You Help Peter and Briana Thrive

Peter and Briana

Partners like you help make it possible for Peter, 20, and his sister, Briana, 22, to forge a new path forward through participation in the Brazos Valley Food Bank (BVFB)’s Together We Grow (TWG) program.

The TWG program empowers participants to learn about themselves and what employers need, develop professional goals, secure high-quality employment and begin the journey to food security.  Peter and Briana participated in career-readiness training through course work, group learning and coaching, which culminated in hands-on project management experience overseeing the planning, maintenance and yield from an on-site garden.

“It makes me feel so much more confident moving forward,” Briana shares. “I learned so much about myself and about my work style that I didn’t even know.”

The TWG program helped the siblings learn time management, financial, teamwork, interpersonal skills and more.

“They don’t teach you that in school” Peter says. “Classes like these would make such a difference if they taught them to us in school.”

Briana hopes to start working full-time soon to save for college, and both she and Peter look forward to affording their own homes someday.

Because of your generosity, the siblings have a community of support that includes fellow classmates and TWG staff while they plan and prepare for success in a full-time job and long-term career.

Thank you for helping our neighbors like Peter and Briana build a strong foundation for a healthier future.
