Impact on Public Assistance Programs

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits SNAP benefits for November will not be issued on the normal monthly issuance schedule starting November 1. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has said they will resume issuing SNAP benefits as soon as they receive new federal guidance.  SNAP recipients in Texas typically receive their benefits on a rolling basis from the 1st – 28th of each month.

Did you know that approximately 15,000 households in the Brazos Valley – approximately 33,000 people with 50% being children– are enrolled in the SNAP program?

SNAP is a lifeline for these neighbors and this program disruption is very serious.

How BVFB is Responding

A major donation from H-E-B means BVFB can purchase food to supplement its network of Agency Partners. This network includes food pantries throughout Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson and Washington Counties who already have the food distribution capacity, infrastructure and experience working with us.
