Childhood Hunger
Harper and Maggie Cunningham are the cofounders of Books and a Blanket, a non-profit that gives books to kids. They have given out over 120,000 books.
Food insecurity in children is tied to: Grade repetition, absenteeism, tardiness, poor math scores...and more. During the school day, children can get breakfast and lunch; for the weekends, they can take home a food-filled BackPack. For $6 a BackPack, we can get NUTRITIOUS, TASTY, EASY TO EAT FOOD, packed into bags and delivered to schools all year. In Fiscal Year 2019-2020, 45,180 BackPacks were distributed through 40 schools in the Brazos Valley. Together, we can make a real difference!
