The Brazos Valley Food Bank’s (BVFB) BackPack Program provides a lifeline for families like Aven’s.
Even with help from the Supplemental Nutritious Assistance Program (SNAP), Aven sometimes has a hard time covering the cost of groceries for her family, so she was really happy to learn about the BackPack Program.
“Anything helps,” Aven explains.
The milk and snacks that her kids, ages 6 and 7, receive in their backpacks help them stay nourished between meals.
“They love it,” Aven shares.
A balanced diet helps students maintain a healthy weight, boosts their immune system, improves learning, provides energy, and enhances the ability to concentrate.
Because of supporters like you, we can help children in the Brazos Valley access the nourishing food needed to thrive through programs like the BackPack Program.
“It’s a great resource,” Aven says. “It’s really helpful because not a lot of us make enough or get enough help...and it just helps makes sure our kids have what they need.”
Thank you for partnering with us to make sure families like Aven’s can access nutritious food this fall and all year long.
