HONOR ROLL
[Stop]
Between 8,000 to 10,000 Americans turn 65 every day, but more folks are becoming poor for the first time in their lives when they reach old age

Many people reaching retirement age don’t have the pensions that a lot of workers in previous generations did

With the decline of pensions, a larger share of older Americans is relying only on Social Security.

Social Security replaces about 40 percent of an average wage earner’s income when they retire.

Senior poverty and senior hunger go hand in hand

In 2016, 4.9 million Americans over the age of 60 were food insecure. This constitutes 8% of all seniors

The Brazos Valley Food Bank’s Senior Bag programs gets supplemental bags of nutritional, low preparation foods into the households of low-income seniors, who may be going without

Food items like Boost or Ensure, low salt soups and low sugar canned fruit allow these seniors to avoid the difficult choice of eating or taking their life-saving medicine.

100% of funds for the Food Bank’s Senior Bags come from donors like you
