Mobile Food Pantry

Backpacks

Started in July 2008, BVFB’s Mobile Food Pantry (MFP) Program is Brazos Valley Food Bank (BVFB) trucks filled with fresh, frozen and non-perishable groceries distributed directly into neighborhoods of great need, sometimes called food deserts. BVFB’s MFP is so streamlined that 200 households can be served in two hours. Individuals drive through the food “line” in their car instead of standing in long lines, forfeiting privacy. BVFB staff and/or volunteers interact through car windows for completion of intake paperwork. The 50-75 lbs of groceries/family is loaded into the vehicle by BVFB staff/volunteers. Monthly MFPs occur in Madisonville, Navasota and South College Station.
